Marion Hedgpeth

January 31, 2013 — February 1, 2013

Marion Sarah Smith Hedgpeth was born June 14,1921, to Oscar and Wilma Smith, at Medina, Texas and moved into her heavenly home on Thursday January 31, 2013. At the age of 15, her brother brought home a bucket of motorcycle parts and a handsome young motorcycle mechanic, V.W. Hedgpeth. Marion and Hedge rode all over west Texas and when they weren’t on motorcycles they were “waltzing across Texas.” Following the oilfield, they lived in McCamey, Rankin, Forsan, Big Springs, Hobbs, New Mexico, Ralls, Port Lavaca, Corpus Christi and finally home at Banquete. They were married 49 years. Marion was very proud of her family and never missed an opportunity to brag about them. She had many friends and enjoyed traveling and playing 42 and Dirty Dice with her longtime companion of 16 years, Al Baker. Al and Marion shared many wonderful memories and he became an important part of her family. Marion was preceded in death by her husband, Hedge; her parents; brother, O.D. Smith and daughter, Nancy Kay. She is survived by her companion, Al Baker; her children, Don Hedgpeth (Sug) of Medina, Texas, Wilma Grupe (Otis) of Bluntzer, Texas, Vicki Pollard of Corpus Christi, Texas, Skip Hedgpeth (Kerry) of Midland, Texas, and Lisa Teltschik (Jim) of San Antonio, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Cody Hedgpeth (Cassandra), Clint Hedgpeth (Julia), Russell Grupe (Linda), Allison Busenlehner (Clint), Karie Wimberly (Trey), Jody Pollard (Leanna), Lynde Langdon (Chad), Adam Hedgpeth (Maggie), Grace Hedgpeth, Lauren Jackson (Mike), and Reagan Teltschik. Also surviving are great grandchildren, Jake and Gracie Lee Hedgpeth, Cole, Claire and Clayton Hedgpeth, Mac, Weston and Walker Wimberly, Brette, Brooke and Brenna Busenlehner, Hudson and Lawson Pollard, Vivine and Rosalineda Langdon, and Brantley Partlow. A special thanks from the family is extended to Mom’s close friend Sharon Goodwin. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 A.M. Sunday, February 3, 2013 at the Bandera Cemetery in Bandera, Texas. A memorial service will be conducted at 10:30 A.M. Monday, February 4, 2013 at River Hills Baptist Church with Bro. Bill Simmons officiating.
