Maria Tullos

Maria B. Tullos passed away on October 30th surrounded by family. She was born on February 22, 1937 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, grew up in Houston, Texas and made her home in Corpus Christi, Texas for over fifty years. She is predeceased by her husband, Thomas R Tullos, her son David Tullos, her daughter- in- law Kari, her parents Flora J. (Gastaldi) and John A. Cechin and sister Joya Giraud. She leaves behind her brother, John G. Cechin of Nacogdoches. She is survived by her son Tommy Tullos and wife Tricia, daughter Judy Cooper and husband Stephen, and son Jack Tullos, and daughter-in- law Amanda. Maria lives on in the hearts of her grandchildren Robbie, Christy, Dusty, Allison, Randy, Allen, Matthew, Stephen, Cody, Jessica, Rhiannon, Shyla and Ethan and of course her great grandchildren. She attended the University of Houston and majored in nursing. There she met Tom and married him in 1956. They remained married 58 years until he passed. Maria dedicated her life to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. When her children were young, she worked as a volunteer at Shannon and Yeager Elementary Schools. She instilled a wealth of wisdom and happiness in her kids. Whether making big dinners, watching movies together, or dancing to Michael Jackson, Mimi loved us. She loved God's creatures and never turned an animal away that needed her help. It didn't matter if it was a squirrel, a baby bird, a frog or a stray cat or dog, there was always love. Maria found such joy in life and constantly found ways to make us laugh or smile. While she loved every holiday and every birthday, the truth is that she made every day special. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be 11:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 P.M. Thursday, November 3, 2016 at the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
