Maria E. Rodriguez, 69, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away March 29, 2012 in Kansas City, Missouri. Maria was born August 9, 1942 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Felipe G. and Maria B. (Benavidez) Rodriguez. She was a U. S. Navy veteran and served during the Vietnam Conflict. She worked for Wal-Mart in Blue Springs for 15 years. She was raised a Catholic and attended St. John LaLand in Blue Springs and accepted Christ as her Savior while attending First Bible Baptist Church with her daughter and family. She was a member of the VFW. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, shopping, Mexican food, music, traveling, and she loved life. She was very giving, made jewelry and crafts and gave them to others. Saying no to her two grandsons was not a part of her vocabulary. She spent the last years of her life at Truman Medical Center Lakewood Long Term Care. She was preceded in death by her father, Felipe, and sister, Mary Alice Rodriguez. Her mother, Maria B. Rodriguez passed away April 4, 2012 and her funeral service was conducted this morning. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Sexton and husband Greg of Blue Springs, Missouri; grandchildren, Collins B. H. Sexton and Parker F. G. Sexton both of Blue Springs, Missouri; her sisters, Tencha Heimlich of Houston, Texas, Elizabeth Rodriguez and Grace Uribe of Corpus Christi, Texas; her brother, Felipe B. Rodriguez of Corpus Christi, Texas; and lots of nephews and nieces
