Madeline "Maddie" Sophia Schilling, age 71, went home to be with our glorious Father on February 16, 2013. Madeline is preceded in death by her sons, Michael Edward Cavin and Richard Wayne "Buck" Cavin , as well as her first husband and the love of her life, Glen E. Cavin, Jr. Madeline is also preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Sam Corbin and Ida Ruth Crouch; She is also preceded in death by her biological parents, Charlie Ross "CR" Wood and Madeline "Mattie" Wood; her biological brother, Charles Wayne Wood. Madeline met and got to know her biological mother for two years before she lost her in 2001. Madeline is survived by her daughter, Sue Ann Surface (Mark); her grandchildren, Ryan Taylor, Katie Taylor and Trevor Surface. Madeline's biological sister and cousin found her in 1998 and instantly they became a family as if they had never parted. She is also survived by her sister, Joyce Mallory (Tommy); her brother, Jimmy Wood (Janet); numerous nieces and nephews and family, which includes extended family from her first marriage and her work family in San Antonio, Texas. She had worked in Civil Service for 30+ years at Kelly AFB and JBSA-Lackland. Her last days on earth her daughter never left her side. She had numerous visitors from work and many spoke of their love for her. Her daughter would like to thank each and every one of them for their support and love of her mother. Pallbearers will be Mark Surface, Ryan Taylor, Trevor Surface, Rudy Chavis, Brian Wilson and David Adams. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Grace United Methodist Church Youth Group or Gulf Coast Humane Society. Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 from 12 noon to 1:00 P.M. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 20, 2013 in the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with The Rev. Stan Whites officiating.
