Lynna Jo “Mimi” Edwards went to Heaven on October 24, 2014. She was 78, born on August 16, 1936. She was born in Electra, Texas and grew up in Holliday, Texas where she went to high school. She attended Midwestern University in Wichita Falls where she met the love of her life, Doyce Carson Edwards. They were married on July 16, 1954. After marrying, she followed him to Kansas for a time but they eventually settled in Odessa, Texas where they lived for 42 years. They moved to Corpus Christi in 2009 to be close to her daughter and family. In Odessa she worked for Delta Drilling Company for 17 years. She was an active member of the Sigma Delta chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha a philanthropic sorority in Odessa and then in Zeta Epsilon chapter in Sinton when they moved to Corpus Christi. She served as Vice President and she also served as the Jonquil Girl/Chaplain. She has been a member of ESA for 18 years. She volunteered at the hospital in Odessa. She loved her time volunteering at Wood River Elementary in Calallen for the last five years almost every day. She enjoyed working with the students and teachers. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Doyce Carson Edwards; her parents, Jefferson Bryan Killian and Joela Carnes Killian; her brother, Jerry B. Killian; her nephews, Gary Killian and Kevin Killian. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt and friend to all. She is survived by her daughter, Melana Gay Edwards Silva; son-in-law Paul Stuart Silva; three grandchildren, Kelsey Anne Silva, Allison Hailey Silva, and Jarod Riese Silva; niece, Nancy Killian Ramirez(Patrick); nephews Jerry Patton (Marilyn), Monty Patton (Jo Ann), and Kell Killian (Flemming); her cousins, Sue Curtis, Kim Amis (Terry); great nieces, Heather Killian and Hillary Killian and many other of her close relatives. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2014 from 5 – 8 pm at Sawyer George Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, Texas. Services will be held at Grace United Methodist Church in Calallen at 10:00 am on Monday, October 27, 2014. Interment will be on Tuesday, October 28 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Robstown, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Wood River Elementary in Mimi's name for trees or playground equipment or to the American Cancer Society.
