Luis Gutierrez, Jr.

Luis Gutierrez, Jr., 58, met his Lord and Savior on December 25, 2013. He was an awesome husband, father and grandfather. He will be tremendously missed by all those who knew him. He served in the United States Army for 2 terms and always considered himself to be a soldier for our country. His favorite saying was “Old soldiers never die they just fade away.” He is survived by his devoted wife, Miriam Gutierrez; one son, Louis Anthony (Regina) Gutierrez; one daughter, Michelle (Paul) Cantu; 3 grandchildren, Nickolas, Jonah & Jeremiah; two sisters, Debra Lucio and Sandra Gutierrez; his Mother in Law, Sarah M. Avila; and lots of family & friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Luis Gutierrez, Sr., his mother, Eva Gutierrez, and his Father in Law, Victor F. Avila. Visitation will be at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, December 29th, 2013 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, December 30th, 2013 at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church with Father Joseph Olikkara as celebrant. Graveside services with full military honors will follow at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
