Lucile Hailey Eschberger, our beloved mother and “Nana” left us for Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 19, 2014. Lucile was born to Alvah Lee and Willie Miller Hailey on February 5, 1914 in Kenedy, Texas. She moved with her family to Robstown, Texas when she was eleven years old, where she was a long time resident. She graduated from Robstown High School in 1931. She married our dad, Travis H. Eschberger, fellow Robstown Cottonpicker and high school sweetheart. Together they had three children, Sandy, Ronnie and Marilyn. They were farmers, and an integral part of the Robstown community. When Travis died at age 40, Lucile took over managing the family farms. She was a devoted wife and mother, a real lady in every way, kind and loving to all. She was a woman of great faith, a strong prayer warrior and was a long time member of the First Methodist Church of Robstown. She loved to garden, and spend time with her children and grandchildren. Her goal was to live to be 100 years old, and she made that goal in a beautiful way in February of this year. Lucile was preceded in death by her husband, Travis, her parents, her brothers, Glenn Hailey, Byron Hailey, K. Carlos Hailey, her sister, Willie Lee Hailey (Billie) Stubbs, grandsons, Brett and Bryan Schanen and great grandson, Ryan Vandivier. She is survived by her children, Sandy Eschberger (Bobby) Schanen, Ronnie Eschberger (Sandy Miller Eschberger) and Marilyn Eschberger (Bill) Fowler; grandchildren, Leslie (Kevin) Vandivier, Rob (Shanna) Schanen, Scott (Lisa) Schanen, Ronda (J.T.) Lewellen, Troy Eschberger, Travis (Kellye) Thompson, Tama (Steve) Johnson; 13 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family, Tim (Denise) Fowler, Deborah (Charlie) Anderson and Cindy Schaaf and their children. Words cannot express how much love and wisdom she poured out over the years to family and friends. She was loved and adored by all of us and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral service. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with The Reverends Michael and Jill O’Brien officiating. Burial will follow in the Robstown Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Rob Schanen, Scott Schanen, Troy Eschberger, Travis Thompson, great grandsons, Sean Cook, Shannon Vandivier, Austin and Connor Schanen.
