Lt. Col. (ret.) Robert W. Pegg II ,78, of Corpus Christi, TX, died at his home on January 13, 2018 after a long illness. Bob was born June 10, 1939 in Bloomsburg, PA, to Robert W. and Ruth (Runyan) Pegg. His father was a WWII veteran who remained on active duty for 20 years, so Bob grew up as an "Army brat," living in numerous parts of the U.S. and in Germany. He graduated from high school in San Antonio, TX and received his B.S. degree from the University of Texas, Austin, in 1963. He was commissioned a 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Army (Military Police) following graduation and served on active duty for 20 years during which time he earned his MBA. In 1983, he retired from the military and moved to Corpus Christi, where for the next 23 years he was employed by Christus Spohn Hospital as chief of Safety and Security. During his tenure, he was active in various organizations and community events involving the hospital. Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, and a good friend to all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Raina (Clark) Pegg of Bishop; sister Marlene Pegg of Harlingen, TX; sons Robert W. (Laura) Pegg III of Flower Mound, TX, and Mark A. (Kerri) Pegg of San Diego, CA; daughter Kelly J. Pegg of Combine, TX; grandchildren William and Robert W. Pegg of Flower Mound and Elizabeth, Margaret and Andrew Pegg of San Diego; step-sons James (Debbie) Clark and William (Janet) Jordan of Bishop; step-daughter Reba (Rudy) Gandara of Corpus Christi; and step-grandchildren Kayla Clark and James Clark, Iliana and Valerie Gandara, all of Corpus Christi; Funeral services will be on conducted on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 11:30 A.M. in the Sawyer-George Funeral Chapel with Rev. Billy Storms officiating. Interment will follow at 1:00 P.M. at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
