Louis Wayne Williams, 86, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, and uncle, died peacefully on June 27, 2017 surrounded by family and friends. Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Nita; his son, Gary Williams and wife, Janet; his daughter, Rhonda Williams Clopton and her husband Keith; grandsons, Cameron and Ethan Clopton and Christopher Tipton. He is also survived by his brother, Jimmy Williams and wife Peggy and his brother-in-law Ron Tipton and wife Marcia. He will be fondly remembered and missed by numerous nieces and nephews as well as friends, neighbors and, of course, his little dog Mia. Wayne was born on October 5, 1930 in a town that no longer exists, Cooperton Flat, Oklahoma. Wayne graduated from Mountain View High School in Oklahoma in 1948. He volunteered for the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. He married Nita in 1952 and they moved to Corpus Christi in 1954 with their newborn son. Wayne worked as a painter with his Uncle Sam until he was hired to work at Southwestern Oil Refinery. He retired 37 years later to spend time with his wife and family. He was a faithful member of Arlington Heights Church of Christ. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping with his family, traveling in his RV and relaxing at his hill country hide away. His short but brave battle with cancer cost him his life and left a hole in all of our hearts. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. until 8 P.M. Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 P.M. Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services with full military honors will be conducted at 2 P.M. Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make contributions to their favorite charities.
