Loraine Wyatt Slayton, 91, of Corpus Christi, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 11, 2011. She was born the only child of Arthur Verner and Esther Lena Schmalsteig Wyatt on October 9, 1920 in Sinton, Texas. Mrs. Slayton grew up in Sodville, Texas where her family donated the property for Sodville Baptist Church. She was a homemaker, was a faithful Christian who loved her Lord, taught Sunday School at the Sodville Baptist Church, was a member of Second Baptist Church from 1945 until 1967 when she became a member of Tuloso-Midway Baptist Church until her death. She was a member of the Joyful Singers Choir at Tuloso-Midway Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Hannah. She is survived by her husband of over 69 years, Homer Slayton of Corpus Christi, Texas; her daughters, Sharon Lynn (Seldon) Jennings of Corpus Christi, Texas and Debra Jean (Ken) Bull of Lake Jackson, Texas; 5 grandchildren, Jason, Stacy, David, Rachel and Ashlyn; 6 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lois Slayton and Lucille Ward; brothers-in-law, Roy and Warren Slayton; and a host of church family and friends. Visitation will be from 1 P.M. until 8 P.M. with the family present from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 A.M. Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Tuloso-Midway Baptist Church with Brother John McAllister, Pastor, and her son-in-law, Brother Ken Bull officiating. Burial will be at 1 P.M. Wednesday, December 14, 2011 in the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
