Linda Lawhon

February 13, 1949 — December 7, 2018

Linda Kaye Lawhon, age 69, of Bishop, Texas passed away December 7, 2018. She was born in Robstown, Texas on February 13, 1949 to George and Marian Nix. Linda Kaye was a giving and selfless person whose strong faith and indomitable spirit created perpetual joy for life and the ability to see God’s beauty every day, even in His seemingly most ordinary creations. She loved her God, her family, her friends and life; she knew no strangers and was never without a compliment, kind word or an offer of help to any and all. Linda Kaye took little and gave much, touching many lives in the small everyday ways that are ultimately the most profound, precious and lasting. She was a woman of many exemplary qualities and will be missed by all whose path she crossed. Linda Kaye and her family have been long standing and active members of the First Baptist Church in Bishop, Texas. She was active in the children’s and women’s ministries as well as many other church committees and activities. Linda Kaye’s hobbies included playing cards and traveling, but her grandchildren brought her the greatest joy. She enjoyed watching Leighton and Pierce grow up through their activities – piano, sports, livestock shows, and everyday life. She loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband of 50 years, Dewey Lawhon; two sons; Darrell James (Tanya) Lawhon and Chad Wayne Lawhon both of Bishop, Texas; brother, George (Sandra) Nix of Belton, Texas; grandchildren, Leighton and Pierce Lawhon of Bishop, Texas. Friends and family are cordially invited to greet the family during a visitation to be held on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church in Bishop, Texas. Funeral services will conducted on Wednesday December 12, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church in Bishop, Texas with Pastor Lee Ortegon and Pastor Clif Abshier officiating. Immediately following the burial at Restland Cemetery, all are invited to visit the family during a luncheon at the First Baptist Church fellowship hall. Pallbearers will be David Briley, Bob Cornett, Hal Walner, Lewis Walner, Dale Nix and Edwin Miller, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Lamar Bailey and Vell Johnson. In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed toward First Baptist Church, 305 E. 5th Street, Bishop, TX 78343.
