Lester Manson passed away on July 24, 2021 in Gonzales, Texas after a lengthy battle with diabetes. Lester was born August 5, 1941 in Freer, Tx to the late Goldie (née Moulder) and Lester L. Manson, Sr. He was affectionately nicknamed “Boy” being the only son with 4 older sisters. Lester graduated Flour Bluff High school where he was active in sports. Growing up in Flour Bluff, he met his soon to be wife, Nancy Hawley, whom he married in 1964. After a stint in the U.S. Army, Lester returned to the Corpus area where he chose law enforcement as a beginning career. He served in both the Robstown Police Department as well as Corpus Christi Police Department. He joined the Nueces County Sheriff’s Dept. rising in areas of responsibility to become Chief Deputy Sheriff. Lester changed careers upon forming 4M Welding where he worked until retirement. As an endowed member of the Freemason Independence Lodge #1337, Lester became a Master Mason, the highest degree in Masonry. He was also a member of Calallen Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy and sister, Ida Belle Wallace. Lester is survived by his sons, Brandon (Julie) of Rockport and Caden (Jemma Nelson) of Pennsylvania. Also surviving him are his beloved grandchildren, Max and Allie Manson, his sisters, Emmalee Baccus, Leenorria Jagger and Henri Wilbur. He is also survived by his loving companion, Judy Tor. Lester was a history buff, birdwatcher, and metal worker. He enjoyed hunting and going to the camp with friends. Many great stories were told following all his adventures. He will be missed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Graveside services will be August 16, 2021 at 11:00am at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas.
