Leroy Norman Brandon, Jr., 83, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away Sunday, May 18, 2014. He was born October 9, 1930 at a family ranch near Kerrville, Texas to Leroy N. and Florence Thomas Brandon. Having been raised on a ranch, he raised and showed Angora Goats and won first place in the State of Texas as a breeder for his Angora Billy Goat at the State Fair in Dallas. He graduated from Tivy High School in Kerrville in 1948 and attended one year at Schreiner University in Kerrville. He married Patricia Ann Stewart on August 28, 1950. Leroy joined the U. S. Coast Guard on May 28, 1951 in Galveston and received his honorable discharge on May 20, 1957 in Corpus Christi. He went to work for Delhi Taylor in Corpus Christi in 1957 and retired from the lab of Amerado Hess in New Jersey on March 31, 1986. He left Corpus Christi in 1971 and lived in New Jersey for 28 years and then moved back to Corpus Christi in 1999 and bought a home in Wood River in 2000. He belonged to Parkway Presbyterian Church and Jackson Woods Presbyterian Church in Corpus Christi and Pluckemin Presbyterian Church in New Jersey. He loved to hunt and fish. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Patricia Ann Stewart Brandon (August 12, 1931 to December 1, 2009), his sister, Betty Lee Brandon Ray and a grandson, Christopher Michael Brandon. He is survived by his son, Leroy N. Brandon, III and his wife, Vicki, and their children, Dawn Brandon Flores (Jason), their children, Dareon Liesmann, DeAnna Liesmann, Jason Flores and Jaylin Flores, Leroy N. Brandon IV and Patricia Brandon; his son, Stewart Brandon and his wife Lyn-Dee Stafford Brandon, their children, Tanya-Lyn Brandon Prather (Austin), their children, Jack Prather and Oliver Prather; LeAnn Brandon Sandoval, (Vincent), their children, Austin Sandoval, Nolan Sandoval, Emily Sandoval and Preston Sandoval. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. until 7 P.M. with the family present from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Jackson Woods Presbyterian Church with Rev. Carla Mathews officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Austin Prather, Vincent Sandoval, Nolan Sandoval, Chris Braden, Jason Flores, Dareon Liesmann and Leroy Brandon, IV. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob McKinley and Bob Johnson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Jackson Woods Presbyterian Church.
