Leonel Rivera Mejia, born December 8, 1958 in Honduras Central America, has passed away on Thursday September 2, 2021 at Spohn Shoreline in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was 62 years old and a 10+ year resident of Callalen, TX and is preceded in death by his mother Mirtala Rivera and his father Raul Mejia. He leaves behind his widow Mirna Madrid Mejia, three adult children from a first marriage (Rosalinda Santamaria Mejia) which include his daughter Hasayali Mejia, his sons Leonel Mejia Jr and Asael Mejia, two grandchildren; Nyree Syrene Mejia and Calvin A. Lopez, eleven siblings; Eloida Mejia, Irma Mejia (deceased), Alba Mejia, Concepcion Mejia, Juan Mejia, Olga Mejia, Dunia Mejia, Jeovany Mejia, Mario Mejia, Dilcia Mejia, Miriam Mejia, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in both the United States and Honduras. Leonel etched out the American dream when he immigrated to the United States in the 1980s and paved the way for his extended family back home to have a better life. One of his proudest moments was when he attained his American citizenship on April 7, 1999. Always an outdoorsman at heart, his hobbies included fishing and hiking, he loved classic western movies, and he passed those passions on to his children. He was a jack of all trades and a gifted auto body technician, which is what he dedicated his professional career to during the latter part of his years. He also leaves behind many close friends who describe him as "the nicest guy" and as an individual who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He will be greatly and dearly missed.
