Leon Dorrough, Jr.

Leon M. Dorrough, Jr., 69, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2016. Leon was born on August 21, 1947 in Corpus Christi. He was the third child born to Leon and Marie Dorrough, Sr. He graduated from King High School in 1967 and attended Del Mar College – West Campus. Leon was a proud patriot and Marine who served in Viet Nam, receiving an honorable discharge in 1969. He was a dedicated employee of Lab Corp for sixteen years. Leon was an avid sports fan. In his travels, he often met coaches and players who were amazed at his dedication and knowledge of the game. He also enjoyed golf as both participant and spectator. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Marie Dorrough. Survivors include three sisters; Kitty (Don) Benick of Corpus Christi, Fran (Herb) Erhart of Leon, Oklahoma, and Julie Meinsen of Austin; seven nieces, one nephew, his Lap Corp family, and other relatives and friends. Graveside funeral services with full military honors will be held in Corpus Christi at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2016.
