Lennis Ross, a great American, good man, husband and father went to join his wife Margaret and their son Dennis on January 30, 2014 at the age of 96. Lennis was born in Center, Texas and spent most of his life in Corpus Christi working at Sun Tide Oil. He joined the United States Army, making the rank Sergeant, Troop "C", 12th Calvary. He had great stories of riding horseback from Brownsville, Texas to Deming, New Mexico on military maneuvers. During World War II he served in the Pacific theatre where he was wounded twice and earned a Purple Heart along with several other medals. He and his wife were enthusiastic Calallen High School sports fans and he was very involved with students including the football and baseball teams. He lived in Kerrville, Texas since 2005 to be closer to family. He was loved for his stories, quick smile and perseverance through hard times. He is survived by grandchildren, Craig Ross and DeAnn Ross, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin one hour before the funeral service. Family and friends are invited to the funeral service which will be conducted at 10 A.M. Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with The Rev. Michele Lott officiating. Burial will be private at Robstown Memorial Park. The family thanks the staff at River Hill Rehab and Odyssey Hospice of Kerrville for their caring help.
