Lena Faye Whiteley
Faye (Foo Foo) Whiteley left this life and entered her heavenly realm on June 30, 2022 at the age of 86. Faye was born on October 22, 1935 in Beeville, Texas to Harry and Hilda May. She was raised on the family ranch in Berclair, Goliad County, Texas and later in Edroy, Tx with her Uncle Jack and Aunt Lila Thornton. She graduated from Sinton High School and worked primarily as a bookkeeper for several Ag related businesses in Odem.
She was a member of first Baptist Church in Odem for over 50 years and enjoyed singing in the choir and serving as head of the kitchen hospitality group, planning and serving many meals as a ministry outreach. She prided herself on knowing almost everyone in town. During the 80s she joined the ladies a cappella group “Sweet Adelines” and traveled all over the state giving performances.
She is preceded in death by her parents Harry and Hilda May, sisters Louise May, Lee (May) Bright and Laverne (May) Webb. She is also preceded by her former husband Darrell Whiteley and their daughter Debbie (Whiteley) Lindermanis.
Faye is survived by her son William (Bill) Whiteley and his wife Lori, grandsons Fletcher Whiteley and Ryan Bellows, his wife Julie and great-grandkids Ainsley and Easton Bellows. She is also survived by three nieces and one nephew, along with many cousins and other cherished family members.
As a celebration of her life, there will be an open viewing at Sawyer-George Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 and a graveside service at 10 AM on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at Evergreen Cemetery in Odem.
