Lena Walker

Lena Joyce Collins Walker went home to be with her heavenly father October 14, 2012. She was born December 17, 1939 in Corpus Christi, Texas to the late Melvin and Elva Collins. Lena received her R.N. degree from Daugherty School of Nursing in 1959. She worked in the office of Dr. Reno where she made many friends due to her gift of mercy. She was an elegant, beautiful woman of God who loved her family. Family memories were created on vacations at the house on Lake Mathis and the Walker Ranch. She delighted in gardening and everything she touched turned beautiful. She planted the word of God in the heart of her family and reflected His love. Her years of prayers empowered the lives of all who came into her path. Lena is survived by her husband of 52 years, Buddy Walker; one son, Bret Walker (Michele); daughters, Lori Walker and Stephanie McDaniel (Pat); grandchildren, Clint (Allison) Walker, Destinee Clawson (Bobby), Breanne Wauson (Chad), Ryan Walker, Wesley McDaniel, Sarah Walker and Nolan McDaniel; five great grandchildren, Ellie, Kayla, Olivia, Bo and Parker. Lena felt so grateful for each member of her family and counted them all the real joy of this life. She is cherished and will be deeply missed. Visitation with the family present will be held from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 A.M. Thursday October 18, 2012 at Journey Church, IH37 at Callicoatte Road, Corpus Christi, Texas with Bro. Buddy Murphrey officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
