Lawrence Sherman Robinson went to be with the Lord May 22, 2014. He had celebrated his 91st birthday with family and friends on Easter Sunday. Lawrence was born April 20, 1923, in Comanche, Oklahoma, to Lawrence Baldwin and Georgia (Shelby) Robinson. He served his country in the Army Air Force in the Pacific during World War II as a certified glider and automotive mechanic, attaining the rank of Corporal. After the war Lawrence married Lucille Potts. They were married 27 years and raised their family of three children in Corpus Christi, TX, where Lawrence operated Larry Robinson Oilfield Services. They were members of the Arlington Heights church of Christ. In 1974, the marriage ended in divorce, and Larry married Irene Roberts who also had three children. Larry and Irene were married 39 years operating an oilfield service business in Eagle Pass, TX, where Larry was a member of the bilingual Iglesia de Christo. He trained for and received his pilot’s license and flew his own airplane. Four yrs. ago, they retired to Portland and Corpus Christi. Larry and Irene traveled extensively across the U. S. and to several cruise destinations. His friendship and Christian influence will be greatly missed. Lawrence is survived by his loving wife, Irene, and six children: Sheila (Wes) Yeager, Lloyd (Suzette) Robinson, Jan Nichols, Laura (Andrew) Tischler, Harral Roberts, Shari (Colin) Brack, fifteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 12:30 P.M. in the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Hogan of the North Bay Church of Christ officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made online to The Children’s Home of Lubbock. Pallbearers will be Colin Brack, John L. Nichols, John S. Nichols, Adam Roberts, Travis Roberts and Andrew Tischler.
