Kenneth L. Talley

July 13, 1954 — August 26, 2024

Robstown

Kenneth “Ken” Talley, 70, passed away peacefully to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, August 26. Kenneth was born July 13, 1954 in Bastrop, Louisiana to Malvin and Audrey Faye Talley. Moving from Louisiana to Texas, he grew up in Waco and graduated from Midway High School where he played football and was active in FCA and speech/drama.

After high school, Kenneth graduated from Texas State Technical Institute’s building construction program with a life-long commitment to the residential construction industry. His early professional career was in Waco, followed by a move to Corpus Christi in 1988 as office manager for the newly formed Texas Dept. of Insurance, Windstorm Division. Eventually he entered into the private sector of windstorm in the coastal bend and remained until his retirement.

Kenneth liked to hunt and fish but especially loved to cook for family and friends. Barbeque, banana pudding and “Papa Pancakes” were his specialties. He loved the Lord and was a member of Calallen Baptist Church, then Bible Believers Baptist Church.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Brenda Speer Talley; loving daughter and “apple of his eye” Angela and husband Will Avant; 2 much-loved grandchildren William Avant and Evelyn Avant; sister Elizabeth and husband Gene Ficker; brother Danny and wife Lynn Talley; sister Melissa and husband Jimmy Guthrie; 12 nephews and 6 nieces.

The family would like to thank Trinity Hospice and ALL of the staff at River Ridge Nursing/Rehabilitation of Calallen. The River Ridge staff went above and beyond in their loving care and attention to Kenneth’s needs and those of his family. Those who worked closest to him were most compassionate, tender, and attentive from the time he arrived until well after he drew his last breath.
