With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Judith "Judy" Ann Scott Rylant, a beloved mother and cherished friend to all fortunate enough to have known her. Judy peacefully transitioned from this life on March 28, 2024, at her home in Celina, Texas at the age of 80. Born on September 11, 1943, in Kingsville, Texas, the only child of the late Gordon Scott and Margie Hubrel Shelburne.
Judy's life was a testament to her boundless creativity and unwavering dedication to learning. She considered herself a "career student" and found joy in expressing her creativity through various avenues, especially arts & crafts and cooking.
Over the years, Judy pursued her interests by founding numerous small businesses, among them a beloved Hobby Shop as well as one specializing in crafting crosses.
Judy demonstrated exceptional culinary skills, delighting all who entered her home with lovingly prepared meals with meticulous attention. Her talents extended to the realm of authorship, as she penned a couple of cookbooks.
Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, Donald Rylant, and her treasured son, Wesley Glen Hart.
Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Cheryl Shelburne, and her devoted children: DeAn Rylant Dawson (Karl), Melissa Hart, Rose Simola (James), Kathy Rios (Roberto), and Donald Rylant Jr. Her enduring legacy extends through her grandchildren, including Alexandria and Taylor Dawson, whom she lovingly nurtured, alongside eight other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Lisa Kirk, Helen Buendia, and the Rivera family for their unwavering love and care extended to "Mah" over the years.
In reflecting on Judy's life, we are reminded of the wisdom of Proverbs 31:25-26, "She is clothed with strength and dignity and she laughs without fear of the future. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue."
