Juanita "Nita" Williams was born in Sedan, Oklahoma on April 28, 1933 to Roxie Forrest and Charles William Tipton. She was number 6 of 8 children, 4 boys and 4 girls. She grew up in Oklahoma and the Panhandle of Texas, sometimes living in the city and sometimes out on a farm. She was not fond of hoeing or picking cotton but did enjoy driving fast on country roads. She attended 9 different schools and learned how to make friends easily and was even a cheerleader in high school. She graduated from Quail High School in 1951.
She went on her first date with the love of her life, Louis WayneWilliams, when she was 13 years old and he was 15. Wayne was her sister Willa's brother-in-law. A few years later, Nita moved to California to attend business school and lived with family until she returned to Oklahoma. Wayne and Nita would see each other off and on through the years and married in August of1952.
They lived in Oklahoma and Pennsylvania until they moved to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1955 where they spent the rest of their married life (almost 65 years). Nita was a member of the Arlington Heights Church of Christ in Corpus Christi. She was an avid shopper and crafter until severe arthritis made it too painful to continue. Nita and Wayne enjoyed traveling and went to Europe twice and Branson, Missouri several times to listen to the country music that they loved. She sadly lost her husband and best friend to cancer in June of 2017. Nita and her dog Mia then moved to Katy to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She lived with them for almost five years before moving to assisted living.
She passed away peacefully in Katy, Texas on November 7, 2023. Nita was preceded in death by her husband Louis Wayne, three brothers, Melvin, J.C. and Lloyd, and three sisters, Virginia Hawkins, Willa Mae Williams and Lucille Stamps.
She is survived by her brother, Ronald (Marcia); her son, Gary Williams (Janet Huston); daughter, Rhonda Clopton (Keith); grandsons, Cameron (Jasmin and their daughter Alannah), Ethan (Brenna), and Christopher Tipton (Kasey and their son, David Ronald).
