Juanita Blair Vickers (Nita) was called home to be with her Heavenly Father and other loved ones on June 12, 2016 just four days before her 96th birthday. Nita was the only child of Eldon and Jetty Pearl Harris Blair. She was born on June 16, 1920 in Madisonville, Texas. She married Hugh Vickers Jr. on April 4, 1942. She was a true South Texas, fifth generation woman. She loved sports, family, and church gatherings. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Mathis. After the death of her husband, Hugh, she moved to Bastrop, Texas, to be closer to her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of 68 years, Hugh Vickers, Jr. She is survived by her daughter Sharon (Otis) Nolen, her son Kenneth(Betty) Vickers, and her daughter Janice Abraham; 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family will be on Saturday, June 18, 2016 from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 18, 2016 in the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Robert Simmons officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Shawn Abraham, Jarred Vickers, John Ertz, Kenneth R. Vickers, Bob Vickers and Richard Brittian. For those who desire, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
