Joseph Cantu

Joseph (Joe) Cantu was born September 14, 1958 and passed on October 25, 2022 peacefully in his home.

He was preceded in death by his father Hipolito Cantu.

He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years Kelly Cantu, who never wavered in their time together especially in his 6.5 years fight with cancer; his beautiful children, Anthony (32), Joseph (25) and Emily (13). He is also survived by his mother, Cruz Albertha Rodela Cantu; sister, Jeanette Cantu-Bazar (Leon); brothers, John (Annie) and J.R.(Brenda) and many nephews and nieces.

To his beautiful daughter, Joe’s love for Kelly and Emily showed her how a man was meant to treat a woman. Joe embodied everything a husband and man was supposed to be. He set the example for Anthony and Joseph. Joe spent his life devoted to two things; his family and tireless work in Oil & Gas. He earned his B.S. Degree in Natural Gas Engineering from Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Joe ensured his family was taken care of by working interminably until his final months. In his time off the rig, he enjoyed spending time at home with his family, smoking the perfect brisket, time with friends, and teaching his boys hunting and fishing. He was a man amongst men and always made sure those around him were taken care of before he had a thought of himself. He will be sorely missed.

A visitation and time for sharing memories will be held from 5:30PM - 9:00PM on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 10:30AM on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at St. Peter's Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church with the Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00AM. Services will conclude at that time.
