Jose Alvar Salinas, 75, went to be with his Lord on December 9, 2017. He was born on May 25, 1942 to Alonzo and Zelfa Hinojosa in Hebbronville, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Ovidio Hinojosa, Rafael Hinojosa and Hector Mario Hinojosa; sisters, Dubelza Medina and Ilsa Almaraz; one sister-in-law, Mary Hinojosa, and adoptive parents, Jesus and Celia Salinas. He is survived by his wife, Hope Salinas of Corpus Christi; daughters, Diana (Baldemar) Pena and Denise (Richard, Jr.) Sanchez of Bryan, Texas; granddaughters, Amarissa and Lianna Pena of Corpus Christi; brothers, Orlando Ruben Hinojosa of San Antonio, Texas, Israel (Sylvia) Hinojosa of Boerne, Texas, Robert (Nelda) Hinojosa of New Caney, Texas; sisters, Odilia (John) Wong of Conroe, Texas and Maricela (Rene) Perez of Crockett, Texas; brother-in-law, Ricardo Almaraz of Hebbronville, Texas; sisters-in-law, Carmela Hinojosa of Cypress, Texas and Estella Hinojosa of San Antonio, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2017 with a “Going Home” celebration at 7 p.m. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel and at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Journey Church with Pastor Dean Bearden and Pastor Arnold Moreno officiating. Interment will be at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
