John Andrew Pavelka

On Wednesday the 19th of July 2023, John Andrew Pavelka of Sandia, Texas departed this earthly life at the age of 74 years. He was born in Robstown, Texas on the 21st of January 1949 to George and Helen Urbanovsky Pavelka. He was raised on the family farm and graduated from Robstown High School in 1967. He married Jerry Davis in Robstown, Texas on the 26th of October 1979.

Being raised on the family farm, John developed a love for working the land. Upon the passing of his father, he took over the family farming operation and continued farming for many years. Through hard work and a deep love for the land, John was able to continue being involved with agriculture in various ways throughout his life. He worked with the irrigation district, planted and managed a tree farm, and planted seasonal gardens every year, in which he provided his family and church family with homegrown vegetables.

John loved being with his grandchildren and teaching them about respecting the land, wood working and the importance of helping others. He was known for his love of music, especially polka, and dancing. He will be remembered for his big hands, blue eyes, and big heart. He will be missed by many but fondly remembered by everyone that knew him.

John is survived by his wife, Jerry Davis Pavelka of 43 years, a son Todd Pavelka (Audi) of Corpus Christi, Texas, daughters Alison Pavelka of Robstown, Texas, and Lindsey (Tobin) Pennington of Sandia, Texas. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Ethan (Abriann) Pavelka, Riggin Pennington and Hodge Pennington and a great grandson, Nikolas Pavelka. He also leaves behind a host of life-long friends and his new church family.

He was preceded in death by his parents George Sr. and Helen Pavelka and his brother George Pavelka, Jr.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, 29th of July 2023 at Arlington Heights Church of Christ located at 2722 Rand Morgan, Corpus Christi, Texas 78410. Visitation with family and friends will follow the service in the church family center.
