John Olney, Jr.

John Clifford Olney, Jr. at the age of 88 was welcomed into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 7, 2011. He was born May 18, 1923 to Clifford and Edna Olney in Stamford, Texas. He will be greatly missed by his devoted wife of 63 years Dortha Baxter of Kenedy, Texas, and his daughter Marci Richter and her husband Dr. Joel Richter of Tampa, Florida and sons Craig Olney and his wife Christy of Zionsville, Indiana and David Olney and his wife Jeanne of Corpus Christi, Texas; along with 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends. John was a decorated WWII veteran and worked in the oil and automotive businesses all of his life. He was a deacon of Pines Presbyterian Church in Houston, Texas and later after retirement a faithful member of Jackson Woods Presbyterian Church in Corpus Christi, Texas. He will be remembered for his great smile as well as the kind and encouraging words he had for everyone he met. He lived a Christian life and by example taught his family the fullness of God’s love. A Memorial Service will be celebrated Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 10:00 AM. in Jackson Woods Presbyterian Church located at 10500 Stonewall Boulevard, Corpus Christi, Texas and interment to follow at Kenedy Cemetery in Kenedy, Texas at 4:00 pm. the same day.
