Joe Wallace Fears, Sr. went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 after an eleven-year struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Joe passed peacefully surrounded by his family, friends and caregivers. Joe was born on November 15, 1928 to Oren and Veda Fears at Beckville, Texas and lived in Corpus Christi more than 50 years. He married the love of his life Juanita C. Fears on June 9, 1951. On June 9, 2014 they would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. Joe retired from ARCO Oil and Gas Company after 35 years of service as a Technical Engineering Specialist. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and James L. Hayes and his nephew O. J. Abshire, Jr. Joe is survived by his wife Juanita "Nita"; two sons, Joe W. Fears, Jr. "Wally", Richard W. Fears "Ricky" (Danna); one grandson, Robert Cox (Tiffany); three granddaughters, Sabrina Fears Giles (David), Chrissy Fears (Joey), Cassie Race (Kirk); one great granddaughter, Kenadei Giles; three nieces, Veda Abshire, Karen Green (George), and Arliegh Hays. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Alzheimer's Association ALZ.ORG, or to the charity of your choice. Visitation will be Sunday, June 1, 2014 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Graveside services will be conducted on Monday, June 2, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Robstown Memorial Park with Bro. Robert Simmons officiating.
