Jimmy Ross Butler, 83, of Odem Texas, went home to be with our Lord on October 7, 2021. He was born in Freer, Texas on December 4, 1937. Jim graduated from Ray High School in 1957 and attended Del Mar College after serving in the U.S. Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserves. He was married to Deborah (Debby) Fox on May 31, 1980. Jim worked extremely hard at his lifelong career in insurance sales, working for different companies but primarily for himself, helping those in need of health and life insurance. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Odem. Jim had great passion and sincere care for all people he met which was especially evident in how he cared for his loving wife throughout their 41 years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his father, William Bryant Butler; mother, Eva Mary Butler (Fanchier); sister, Carolyn Cummings, and brother, Odie Butler. Jim is survived by his sister, Frances Wiley; spouse, Debby Butler; daughters, Jennifer Gotcher (Link) and Lorette Williams (Charlie); sons, Joseph Butler (Tabitha) and Bryant Butler (Tiffany); 11 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson “on the way” and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A viewing will be held at 2:00 p.m. and a Memorial Service at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.
