Jimmie Smiley

Jimmie Kathleen Ware Smiley, 91 years young, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on March 1, 2015. She was born December 22, 1923 in Snyder, Texas, grew up in Texas, graduating from Goldthwaite High School before moving to Santa Monica, California where she met and married her husband of 67 years, John Edward “Jack” Smiley. From there they followed her family back to Texas and into the bakery business, eventually owning and operating the family business, Shell Pastry Shop, for more than forty years. Jimmy was an extraordinary woman with a love for the Lord. She and Jack were members of Tuloso-Midway Baptist Church for over 44 years and were blessed with many friends there, as well as the many friendships made in their years at the bakery. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and many friends, remembered fondly as a doting mother, grandmother and great grandmother. We rest in the peace that she was welcomed into the loving arms of her precious Lord and Savior. She was preceded in death by her parents, Zula and Arthur Ware; sisters, Audrey Warren and Ruby “Peggy” Williams; brother, Arthur Weldon Ware. She is survived by her loving husband, John Edward “Jack” Smiley; son, Stanley Smiley; daughters, Lezli Baugher (Rick), Teresa Shaw (Mickey), and Linda Condit (Brad); grandchildren, Jill Aronson (Dave), Matthew Shaw (Emily), Cody Smiley, John “JJ” Smiley (Bridgett), Rebecca Hicks (John), Travis Condit (Clair) and Jenna Davis (Daniel); and one beautiful great grand daughter, Madison Shaw. Visitation will be from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 A.M. Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Tuloso-Midway Baptist Church with Pastor John McAllister officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens.
