Our beloved Jesse Bernard Greenwood went to be with his precious Lord on Wednesday, January 8, 2014. Jesse was born in Beaumont, Texas on July 26, 1928 to Jesse Raymond and Elsie Bernadine Greenwood. Early in Jesse's life the family moved to the Odem, Calallen area. Jesse graduated from Odem High School in 1946. Charlsie Rhea Drum and Jesse were married on June 15, 1947. During his 41-year career in the oil industry, Jesse worked on six continents for several companies including Viking, SeaCat Marine and Atwood Oceanic. Jesse began as a roughneck and retired as a drilling superintendent. From Lima, Peru to Ethiopia, Africa companies were blessed with his dedicated service to the oil industry. Even though his career required extended assignments away from home, Jesse always celebrated his return to his family and his ability to provide for them. Blessed with a wonderful sense of humor and quick wit, Jesse never met a stranger. Jesse's loving heart and bigger than life personality will be missed by all those who dearly loved him. Jesse was preceded in death by his adored wife of 57 years, Charlsie Rhea Greenwood, his loving son, Bill Greenwood, brother, Forest Greenwood and sister, Millie Cobb. He is survived by his children, Jan Woodson and her husband, Bob of Arlington and Roger Greenwood of Horsham, England; daughter-in- law, Martha Greenwood of Corpus Christi; four grandchildren, Lindsay Greenwood of Corpus Christi, Lance Greenwood of San Antonio, and Brittany and Victoria Greenwood of Littlehampton, England; five great-grandchildren Hannah, Taylor, Payton, Macie Rhea and Harry Paul; and brother, Walter Greenwood of Oklahoma City. The family wishes to thank Dr. Robert Fordtran III for years of quality medical care. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Sawyer-George Funeral Chapel, 12497 Leopard Street, Corpus Christi, Texas. Interment will follow in the Odem Evergreen Cemetery in Odem, Texas.
