Jerome E. Jalufka was born August 23, 1927 to Jewel Vick Jalufka and Jerome W. Jalufka in Corpus Christi, Texas. He attended grade school in Violet, Texas and graduated from high school in 1945 from Peacock Military Academy in San Antonio, Texas. After graduation, he served two years in the Navy during World War II. After returning from his service, he attended Texas A&M, Denver University and in 1950 received a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&I University in Kingsville. He managed the Violet Gin and Grain Company from 1952 to 1959. He then owned and operated Coastal Storage, Inc. for the next 35 years. He also owned and operated Coastal Bend Manufacturing Co. and Coastal Bend Mote Plant. He loved the outdoors, spending many hours planting and maintaining his farms. As an avid gardener, he was happiest when growing vegetables and flowers and sharing them with friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Patricia; two sons, John L. Jalufka and wife Terri, and Jerome H. Jalufka both of Corpus Christi, Texas; two daughters, Debbie Dysart of Leander, Texas, and Kim Hohle of Corpus Christi, Texas; grandsons, John L. Jalufka II, Jake L. Jalufka, Justin L. Jalufka; brother, Earl D. Jalufka, and wife, Dee of Robstown, Texas; two sisters, Barbara Williams of Robstown, Texas and Mary Frances Studer and husband, Ralph of Fredericksburg, Texas and numerous nephews and nieces. The Rosary will be recited on Monday, January 2, 2012 at 6:00 P.M. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Violet, Texas. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Violet, Texas with Rev. Msgr. Celestine Murray as celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery.
