Janet Linn Bolton

August 3, 1955 — April 14, 2024

Corpus Christi

Janet Linn Campbell Bolton, 68, was one of a kind and a beautiful soul.  She was an unparalleled Christian encourager that could make the mundane exciting and make you feel you were the most important person in the room!  She took great joy in serving others. Her favorite bywords, “No Business,” meaning “Oh My,“ made you laugh as she said it because of the infectious smile of the blonde, blue-eyed  beauty and prankster. Janet was proud to be a Calallen Wildcat for all 12 years graduating with the class of 1973.

Active in her church, Arlington Heights Church of Christ, she directed Vacation Bible school, taught Bible class, participated in dramas, and led the first divorce and loss recovery group there that greatly impacted lives. As her children, Chad and Krystle Greathouse entered Calallen schools, Janet was active in the PTA serving on the Board, being a room mother, and attending and supporting her children in all their many activities. More recently, her favorite thing was 3 grandkids, always on the lookout for something special for Avery, Cadence and Campbell.

Janet worked in banking in Corpus Christi and in retail in Kingsville during her life but flourished as a private end of life caregiver and stay at home Mama.  Janet had a unique, very special gift for working and providing care and joy to the infirmed  and patients came to love her like their own daughter.  She helped many “get home.” As a mom she hosted picnics in the living room,  roasted marshmallows in the fireplace, always had cinnamon rolls baking on Sunday mornings plus popsicles ready for the neighborhood kids.  She could make a mean pot of chicken and dumplings and convinced her children that corn belonged in mac and cheese. She cherished her many lifelong friendships and they cherished her.  She was strong , stubborn, loyal, creative, loved with all her heart and always had her lipstick on.  FYI: You do not go to the hospital without your smoky eye shadow, pink lipstick and you encourage every nurse or custodian that walks through your door.

Janet Linn Campbell, born in Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas, August 3, 1955, was preceded in death by parents Jewel Virginia (Geno) Dunn Campbell and Talmage Clifford (Tobe or T.C.) Campbell.
She went to Jesus, after years of bravely fighting multiple illnesses, the afternoon of April 14, 2024 with her doting and loving husband of 19 years Wesley (Wes) Bolton, her children , Chad Michael (Melany) Greathouse of Bulverde,Texas, Krystle Linn Greathouse of Corpus Christi, Hannah Bolton (Jared Pena), of Leander and Darren Bolton ( Alayssa Arguijo) of Corpus Christi and other relatives gathered around as she took that journey.

She is also survived by sisters, Cheryl Campbell (John) Reed and Peggy Diane Campbell Simmons, both of Corpus Christi; and her precious grandchildren, Avery Lyn Greathouse and Cadence Mica Greathouse, both of Bulverde and Campbell Michael Greathouse of Corpus Christi. Nieces, Heather Rechyl Reed (Josh) Kennedy, Jacquelyn Diane Simmons (Kyle) Sumner, Amber Dayjohn Reed and nephews, Johnathan Dallas [Megan) Reed and Austin David (Lisa) Simmons knew there was no one like Aunt Janet. Aunt Barbara Campbell, cousins, Susan Campbell (Doug) Reiter, Steve (Charlotte) Campbell, Ann Dillman, Charlotte (Michael) Scott and many other relatives and friends adored her. The family is so thankful to Mike Greathouse for his care and kindness and love.
