Janell Daniel Matula, 52 of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away January 3, 2012 in a place she held dear to her heart. She was born September 24, 1959 in Corpus Christi to Walter and Dorothy Daniel. She was a talented artist and art graduate of Del Mar College. She often used her talent to face paint at children's parties and numerous charity events. Janell was a very kind hearted person who was active in the Corpus Christi Art Community as well as acting as a prominent child abuse advocate for Dream Catchers for Children. She recently had her paintings featured in the Arc of Dallas, which traveled through numerous art galleries and museums in 2011. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy "Dot" Daniel who will be by her side as she awakes in the garden of heaven. She is survived by her father, Walter "Red" Daniel and step-mother, Tillie Daniel; her husband, James Edwin Matula; her eldest daughter, Allaena Ann Maurer (Clay Brother), Casey Janell Matula (Michael Del Rio), Cory James Matula (Rose Qualia) all of Corpus Christi, Texas; brother, William "Danny" Daniel; sister, Mary Bridgette Dimbley; two grandchildren, Jacob James Day and Michael Del Rio, Jr. Visitation with the family will be on Friday, January 6, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at the Abundant Life Fellowship with Pastor Rick Milby officiating, Interment will follow in the Palms Memorial Garden in Portland, Texas.
