James Tinnell

James “Jim” Wiley Tinnell, age 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born to Harvey James and Thelma Craine Tinnell in Minden, Louisiana on November 24, 1933. After the family relocated to Texas, he graduated from Brownsville High School in Brownsville, Texas in 1952. Jim earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1956 from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and a Bachelor of Divinity degree in 1959 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Jim married Barbara Nell Perkins on August 25, 1956. Together they had two children, William and Kim. He and Barbara enjoyed spending time with their two children fishing and camping. Jim lived his life for the Lord and kept busy as a Mason and active member of Annaville Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher for over 45 years. He worked as an operator for Suntide and Koch refineries for over 35 years. Jim is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harvey James Tinnell, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara; his son, William James Tinnell (Suzelle), and daughter, Joyce Kim Kelly (Joe); five grandchildren, a great grandson; two brothers, Robert Wayne and Ronald Keith Tinnell; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Annaville Baptist Church on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with a burial service to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Annaville Baptist Church/Missions.
