James "Jim" Campbell went to his home in Heaven on January 1, 2012. James was born in Mt. Enterprise, Texas on December 24, 1930. He was the youngest of four children and roamed the forests and creeks of East Texas until the age of 14, when he hitchhiked to Corpus Christi in search of work. James was skilled in his work in instrumentation at various refineries in the Corpus Christi area. James met Barbara Benick at Calvary Baptist Church and the two were soon married in 1954. James and Barbara were very active in their churches and enjoyed taking their two children to Mathis Lake and to the ranch where James raised cattle. He was a rancher in Live Oak County for over 40 years. James loved spending days with his grandchildren, working on his ranch and keeping all the equipment running. He was preceded in death by his parents, Annie and John Campbell; his brothers, S. C. and Talmadge "Tobe" Campbell; and his sister, Gertrude Sears. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Campbell; his son, Steve (Charlotte) Campbell; his daughter, Susan (Doug) Reiter; three grandchildren, Jarrett and Katie Campbell and Meghan (Steven) Donald; one great grandchild, Mathis Donald. Visitation will be from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M. with the family present from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 A.M. Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Annaville Baptist Church with Bro. Pat Bullock, Bro. Robert Simmons and Bro. Ed Benick officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens.
