Jacob Atkinson

Jacob Don Atkinson, age 42, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away on February 3, 2016 in San Antonio, Texas. Family and friends surrounded Jake as he went to be with his Lord and Savior.   Jake is the beloved husband of Cynthia and loving father of Nathan and Emily. He is survived by his mother, Barbara McCain Thompson, step-father, Glen Thompson and brother, Jason Atkinson (Alice). His grandmother, Erna McCain, also survives him. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends survive Jake. His father, Michael Don Atkinson, precedes Jake in death.   Jake was a member and the current Junior Deacon of the Sunset Masonic Lodge #1388. He was also a member of the Journey to Damascus community and a member of Annaville Baptist Church. “Jake the Snake” loved riding his Harley Davidson Street Glide. He also loved to play golf, hunt, fish and coach his son in sports. Jake was a member of the USGA teaching professionals of America as well.   Family will be present to receive friends on Monday, February 8, 2016 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home, 12497 Leopard Street, Corpus Christi, Texas 78410. The funeral service celebrating Jake’s life will be on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at Calallen Baptist Church, 13505 IH 37, Corpus Christi, Texas 78410. Burial will follow at Robstown Cemetery, Hwy 77 and Hwy 44, Robstown, Texas.
