Jack Gregory Hamlyn, 63, was born November 22, 1955 in Kerrville, Texas to John H. and Marjorie J. “Jackie” Hamlyn, and died January 22, 2019 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Jack attended grade school at Van Vleck ISD and Jr. High and High School at Calallen ISD. He graduated cum laude from Texas A&I University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for many years for Broughton Electric designing controls for numerous plants and compressor stations in South Texas, and more recently, he worked for Voestelpine as a controls engineer at their new plant near Gregory, Texas. Jack enjoyed tinkering with things and taking them apart to see how they worked. He also liked reading especially technical manuals, and he liked designing complicated control systems for plants and compressor stations. Jack was preceded in death by his father, John H. Hamlyn. He is survived by his mother, Jackie Burney Hamlyn of Center Point, Texas; a daughter, Chandler Blair Hamlyn of Round Rock, Texas; three brothers, Stan Hamlyn (Vanessa) of Victoria, Texas, Steve Hamlyn (Kay) of Calallen, Texas and Clay Hamlyn of Wadsworth, Texas; two sisters, Virginia “Ginny” Bell of Portland, Texas and Lugene Barnett (Sammy) of Marion, Texas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.. A Celebration of Jack’s life will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the First Baptist Church, 104 Ave. C, in Center Point, Texas.
