Jack Butler

Jack Eugene Butler, son of Joseph and Beatrice Butler, was born in Greeley, Iowa on May 21, 1934. He spent his childhood days in Oelwein and Boone, Iowa. At 17, he joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country over 21 years, serving in both Korea and Vietnam campaigns. He later worked for the Small Business Administration. He died on January 9, 2013, after a long battle with multiple illnesses. Jack never met a stranger. He enjoyed many years of volunteer service in youth activities with local and district Optimist clubs and in the Flour Bluff school district. He was a loyal Hornet fan to the end. Preceding him in death were his parents, his first wife, Ella Mae, and one sister, Carolee Androy. Jack is survived by his wife of 18 years, Peggy; his daughter, Kim (Mike) Kay and grandchildren, Emma and Mikey Kay all of Corpus Christi, Texas; step-daughters, Ella Mae Lombard of Vail, Arizona and Kristin (Stephen) Fuchs of Sandia, Texas; step-sons, Thomas Roberts, Jr. of Germantown, Maryland, Ken (Bri) Crowder of Beeville, Texas and Kurt (Trisha) Crowder of LaVernia, Texas; as well as grandchildren, Riley, Ryan, Ashley, Codi, Arianne and Brianne Jack's family is very grateful to all the medical personnel who provided wonderful care and concern to him and listened to all of his stories. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 P.M. Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at St. John Lutheran Church of Robstown with Pastor Jeffrey Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery. Pallbearers are Mike Kay, Mikey Kay, Ken Crowder, Kurt Crowder, Stephen Fuchs and David Pullin. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to St. John Lutheran Church, 3316 Hummingbird Lane, Robstown, Texas 78380.
