J. B. Parker went to be with our Lord on January 23, 2016 with his loving family by his side. J.B. was born on February 9, 1935 to Jesse Buford and Artie Parker in Corpus Christi, Texas. He is a lifelong resident of Corpus Christi. J.B. graduated from W.B. Ray High School in 1953 and took courses in accounting. He worked as a bookkeeper and accountant until 1968. As a young man he was active in the Jr. Chamber of Commerce holding every office except president. He joined the West Corpus Rotary club and was president in 1975 of that organization. He was a Paul Harris honoree and kept a 29 year perfect attendance with the Rotary Club. In 1969, with his partner, George Brown, he opened Texas Office Supply. The two men opened two stores in Corpus Christi as well as South Texas Office Products in Victoria. J.B. retired in 1999 from the office supply business. He was a very avid hunter and loved traveling with his wife and partner. They were able to travel throughout the United States and Europe. He loved motor homing and spent many summers in Ruidoso, New Mexico. J.B. was an avid woodworker after he retired and made many beautiful pieces of art. J.B., otherwise known by all his grandchildren as Popeye, loved his family and his faith. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 59+ years, Carolyn. Also, he is survived by two sons, Kevin, Kurtis (Sylvia) and daughter Karen (Michael), four grandchildren, Jessica Jayne, Alyssa (Polo), Krista, Jamison and two great grandsons, Polo and Nico, and two loyal companions Yoli and Pippa. J.B. is also survived by two brothers, Doyle Parker (Joan) and Kenneth (Barbara) Parker. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 27 at 2:00 at Grace United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Grace United Methodist Building Fund. The family would like the Christus Spohn Homecare Hospice for their kindness and compassion.
