Hugo Springer Knoblauch Jr passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at the age of 90 years. He was born to Dessie and Hugo Knoblauch Sr on November 27, 1933.
He graduated from Miller High School. He met Barbara (Dusty) Ricker in 8th grade and they married February 6, 1954. Soon after marrying he served in the Army, and spent time in Korea. Hugo became a widow after 59 years of marriage to Dusty. He was a beloved High School and Middle School teacher. Hugo coached high school football and track at Banquete, Odem, Calallen, and Mathis. He brought fun and intensity to his students and players for 29 years. Hugo was inducted into the Coastal Bend Coaches Association Hall of Honor in 2000. He enjoyed traveling, skiing, softball, golfing and reading Louis L’Amour books.
Hugo was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dusty, his sister Dessie Crow, and his grandsons, Dustin Knoblauch and Reece Eichman. He is survived by his four sons, Richard (CJ), Roland (Julie), Ronnie (Brigette), Rance (Jean); two daughters, Dawna (Fred), and Kathryn; 12 grandchildren, Crystal, Katrina, Ronald, Michelle, Joshua, Cara, Tiffany, Mark, Ashley, Crista, Raven, and Ryne; 13 great grandchildren, Addison, Keagan, Nevaeh, Samantha, Arya, Dez, Geovanni, Roselle, Bodhi, Sunny, Charlie, Stella, and Luke.
On Friday, October 18, 2024, a Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at 10:30am with the Celebration of Life following at 11:00am at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. The inurnment will be at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery following the Funeral Services.
