Howard served in the U.S. Coast Guard and would often tell stories of locations he was stationed and the things he was able to experience while enlisted.  After his service, Howard worked in the food industry until retirement. He enjoyed seeing and hearing about his grandkids, and though didn’t say it out loud, you could tell he was proud they called him “Pepaw”. He loved to cook, whether it be for the family or just for himself. Howard was a die-hard Astros fan and never missed the opportunity to watch any of their games that were televised. Family and friends were quick to tell if the Astros won or lost by Howard’s overall mood after the game.  Howard was a man of few words but a kind heart, and he will be missed by all those who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Sue Eddins; his mother and stepfather, Betty & Mike Franklin; and his father, Rex Eddins. He is survived by his son, Andrew (Tricia) Eddins; daughter, Krystal (Samuel) Deleon; his two grandsons, Justin Eddins and David Deleon; brother, Tony Franklin; and sister, Diane Harris.
