Harry Rychetsky

January 9, 1937 — July 15, 2016

Harry Rychetsky, 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 15, 2016 at home, in the arms of the love of his life, Pat, of 57 years. Harry was a 23-year cancer survivor, who fought many unbelievable battles, always being the smiling, humble winner. Born January 9, 1937, in Robstown, Texas, to Louis and Annie Rychetsky, he was the oldest of 3 sons proudly raised on the farm. Throughout his years at Robstown High School and Texas A&I Kingsville, he continued to pursue his farming background by applying his strong and honest work ethics into anything to do with agriculture and ranch land. Throughout his farming career, he also became an Independent Farm & Ranch Real Estate Appraiser, doing numerous contract jobs for the State of Texas and farm and ranch owners. Harry's favorite things in life were hard work, hard play, any activity that involved family and endless dancing with his bride. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and always included family and friends in his passion of the great outdoors. After retiring from farming, he continued growing and nurturing through his garden and fruit trees. Paw Paw's homegrown, homemade sauerkraut, dill pickles and navel oranges were sought after, requested and enjoyed by many. In his later years, while in and out of hospitals, Harry looked forward to any opportunity to wet a hook, play just (1) slot machine for hours and have his weekly domino game and lunch at home with friends. Harry was a wonderful son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will forever be respected and remembered for his strength, his generosity, his love, and his gusto for life. He was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws, Edgar and Frieda Taylor. Survivors include his wife Pat, daughter Dena Trahan (Lynn) of The Woodlands, son Ronald Ray Rychetsky (Barbara) of Calallen; grandchildren Lacy Cole (Morgan), Riley Rychetsky, Luke and Joshua Trahan, and two step grandsons and their families; brothers Jerome Rychetsky (Carmen) of Bluntzer and Dickie Rychetsky (Laura) of College Station; numerous nieces and nephews, and his beloved best buddy Bear. Visitation will be held at Sawyer-George Funeral Home, Tuesday, July 19, 2016 from, 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at St. John Lutheran Church on Highway 77, at 2 p.m. with burial to follow at Robstown Memorial Park on FM 1889. Pallbearers will be Mickey Kloth, Ray Calloway, Bob Worsham, John Schroeder, Josh Wilson and Sam Celum. Honorary pallbearers will be Albert Hornung, Larry Beaman, Hank Jones, Ramiro Cantu, Richard Guerra and Onesimo Moreno. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to St. John Lutheran Church, or any cancer or child care organization of your choice. The family would like to thank Dr. Hanisch, Dr. Segal and staff, the amazing caregivers at Encompass Home Health, as well as Dr. Jonasch and the wonderful people at M.D. Anderson who provided such great care over the many years.
