To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. (II Cor. 5:8) That is where Harold Dean Sturm now resides. Born March 6, 1933 and departed December 8, 2016, he was retired Air Force, a Southern Baptist Minister, graduate of Dallas Baptist University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Sturm; three children, Christie Lynn (William) Skutch, Harold Joseph Sturm and Dean Alan (Elma) Sturm; two sisters, Claudette (William) Ostrander and Sharon Sturm; five grandchildren, Crystal Wenhold, Christopher (Megan) Sturm, Kathryn (Jonathon) Oliver, Joe Avila and Dean Sturm; four great grandchildren, Scott Wenhold, Maddison Oliver, Jackson Oliver and Maggie Caldwell. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 P.M. Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Orman Gwynn officiating. Burial with full military honors will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday in Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
