Gloria Bibeau

December 13, 1923 — November 17, 2014

Gloria Watson Bibeau, born December 13, 1923, in Palestine, Texas, to Fannie and R.T. Watson, passed away November 17, 2014, just shy of her 91st birthday. Gloria, also affectionately known as Sister, was brought up in San Benito, Texas, the youngest of ten children. Gloria attended nursing school at Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas, graduating in 1945. She spent her nursing career in Corpus Christi as a surgical nurse with Thomas Spann Clinic and Humana Hospital/Doctors Regional Hospital until her retirement in 1984. In 1946, Gloria met Donald T. Bibeau, a dashing sailor, and married him two weeks later. They were married for 55 years, until his death in 2001. Together they were long-time members of River Hills Country Club where they both loved to play golf. Gloria also loved playing bunco for over 15 years with her good friends in the Calallen area. She enjoyed reading, working the crossword puzzle daily, and putting together jigsaw puzzles. Her other joy was attending the Watson family reunion every other year with all of her large extended family. Gloria Bibeau will always be remembered as a fun loving woman with a positive attitude. She was happy, upbeat, and appreciative of everything life offered her, whether large or small. In 2002, Gloria began living at the Villa Northwest, moving to the Villa South in 2011. She enjoyed living there very much and quickly became a favorite resident because of her cheerful personality. Gloria is predeceased by her husband, Donald, her parents, and all nine of her older siblings. She leaves to cherish her memory sons Dan and Esmeria Bibeau of Greensboro, North Carolina, Wayne and Sharon Bibeau of Lakeway, Texas, and Scott and Lisa Bibeau of Corpus Christi, Texas. She also leaves five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank the nurses and caregivers at Villa South (Stepping Stones) for their loving care and especially to Delinda Torres and Chaplain Connie Bures with Christus Hospice for their compassionate care the last few days of Gloria's life. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, in Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 20, 2014, in Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow in Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
