Gertrude Mackey

Gertrude H. Mackey, 93, of Centennial, Colorado, a former resident of Robstown, Texas, passed away September 2, 2010. She was born January 14, 1917 in Robstown to Robert and Nettie Owens Humphries. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and was a former teachers aide in Wyoming and at Tuloso-Midway Elementary School. She married Robert Charles Mackey on June 4, 1938 and he passed away on April 17, 1976. She is survived by her children, Robert C. “Bob” Mackey, Jr. of Anchorage, Alaska, James Curtis Mackey of Nucla, Colorado, Mary Sue Sorenson of Steamboat Springs, Colorado and Karen Johnson of St. Lazare, Quebec, Canada; six grandchildren, Robert Charles Mackey, III, Angela Dawn Mackey, Jamie Sorenson Clouser, Robert Paul Sorenson, Seth Eben Johnson and Zachary Quinn Johnson; one great grandchild, Kaylee Karma Mackey; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 A.M. Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Larry Cash officiating. Burial will be in Robstown Memorial Park.
