Gerald Ray Hibbitts, fondly known as Jerry, was born December 30, 1943, in Fredericktown, Missouri. His life on this earth ended February 3, 2023, in Corpus Christi, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Willard Hibbitts and Ella Rae Hibbitts (Brown), his wife of 48 years, Linda Joy Hibbitts (Moyers), his brothers, James Willard Hibbitts and Donald Eugene Hibbitts, as well as his sister Lucy Marie Jones-Stevenson (Hibbitts).
He is survived by his wife Edie Hibbitts (Hajek); his daughter Lana Beth and her husband Bill Akison of Loudonville, Ohio; two sons: Keith Allen and his wife Jan Hibbitts of Little Elm, Texas, and Todd Eric and his wife Jessica Hibbitts of Cypress, Texas; five grandchildren: Jeremy (Andrea), Shea, Eric, Aiden, and Connor; six great grandchildren: Elayna, Hunter, Anna, Hudson, Jace, and Hampton; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was an accomplished singer who had a special love for God and Southern Gospel Music. He was a member of Heritage Baptist Church of Corpus Christi and enjoyed singing in their choir.
Jerry was a proud veteran and patriot, having served as a Submariner on the U.S.S. Sea Leopard in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1967.
A memorial for Jerry will be held on Saturday, February 11th, 2023, with a time of visitation at 12:00 p.m. and the service starting at 1:00 p.m. Services will be held at Heritage Baptist Church, 5217 Yorktown Blvd., Corpus Christi, TX, 78413. (361) 855-4222.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Heritage Baptist Church Building Fund in memory of Jerry to further the Lord’s good work that He is doing in the Coastal Bend.
