Gayle Payne Houghton, age 66, passed away on January 10, 2022. She was born in Corpus Christi where she lived her entire life.
Gayle was married to her loving husband Randy Houghton for 44 years. She loved spending time with her family and attending all events her children and grandchildren participated in. She especially loved the Christmas season and driving around looking at lights. She loved animals, enjoyed plants and flowers and she found a love coaching kickball while her girls grew up playing the sport. Throughout Gayle’s 30 years of coaching, she made lasting impacts on each girl she coached as well as many life-long friendships.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil Payne and Claire Eikner Payne.
She will always be cherished and loved by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Randy Houghton; children, Holly Houghton, Heather (Marty) Henderson, Heidi (Clint) Land and Randy Houghton, Jr.; her grandchildren, Hadyn, Kaitlyn, Madisyn, Daxton, Brody and Claire. She is also survived by her brothers Cecil (Becky Heaton) Payne, Jr., Evelyn (Jamie) Parker-Sheetz and Perry (Deborah) Payne and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Sawyer-George Funeral Home on Thursday, January 13, 2022, from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. A funeral service will be Friday at 10:00am at Sawyer-George with entombment following at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Randy Houghton, Jr., Hadyn McCarty, Marty Henderson, Clint Land, Kirby Heaton, and Chris Reinke.
The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at MD Anderson Cancer Center and Corpus Christi Cancer Center for the care and attention they gave her and her family.
