Frankie Joe King, age 80, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away September 15, 2014. He was born July 13, 1934 in Aransas Pass, Texas to John Hamilton and Myrtle Spears King. Frankie was a graduate of Aransas Pass High School. He served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959. After that he worked on a tug boat with his brother, Johnny King. He worked for Sun Oil which later became Koch Refinery. Frankie was a long time member of Grace United Methodist Church. Frankie was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers and sisters, George Arlan King, Johnny Edward King, Myrtle Mae Berna and Irene Swann. He is survived by his wife of fifty three years, Ruthie King of Corpus Christi, Texas; his children, Brenda King and Lisa (John) Denson all of Corpus Christi, Texas and Gary (Kim) King of Escondido, California; grandchildren, Anessa Helsel and Amanda Helsel both of Corpus Christi, Texas, Lauren King and Rachel King both of Escondido, California. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, September 19, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at the Grace United Methodist Church with The Rev. Stan Whites and The Rev. Michele Lott officiating. Interment will be at a later date in the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Building Fund of Grace United Methodist Church, 14521 Northwest Blvd., Corpus Christi, Texas 78410.
