Floyd Richard Galloway passed away on March 23, 2016 in Corpus Christi, Texas at the age of 74 after a lengthy illness. He was born on October 11, 1941 in Alice, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Leo and Virgie Galloway and his sister-in- law, Mary. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia Najvar Galloway; his sons, John Bradley Galloway and Mark William Galloway (Randi Wing); one granddaughter, the joy of his life, Kaylee Grace Galloway; a brother, Don Galloway and two nieces, Becky and Pam. Richard graduated from Texas A&I University in Kingsville with a degree in Agriculture and retired from Celanese after 35 years. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army having served at Ft. Polk, Louisiana. He was an avid football and baseball fan and announced games for the Calallen Wildcats for more than 20 years. He thoroughly enjoyed this aspect of his life and was known as “the Voice of Calallen”. He also was active in high school basketball and was an official clock keeper for many years. He enjoyed fishing, playing bridge and dominos, and western dancing which started with Al Dean and the All Stars. We would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Corpus Christi Medical Center – Doctors Regional Hospital for their kindness and care, and the nurses with Del Cielo Home Care, especially Jennifer. A special thank you to Randi, Richard’s daughter, whom he loved like his own. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Violet Historical Society of which he was a Charter Member. Visitation will be on Monday, March 28, 2016 from 6-8 pm at Sawyer George Funeral Home, followed by funeral services on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 2 pm. Interment will take place with military honors on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 2 pm at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
